What are we actually observing?

Before disease can be measured, compared or prevented, it must be identified consistently. Clinical syndromes may have infectious, inflammatory, autoimmune or other causes, and the distinction is not always obvious at first presentation.

VIVI’s work in disease ascertainment examines how clinical information, standardised definitions, diagnostics and structured data can be combined to improve classification in research and real-world settings.
